BOYD EDWARD RANDLE

PROFILE: Boyd Randle was born in 1889. Randle was the beginning of a greyhound family tradition. Boyd and Martha Randle were from Idana, Kansas. Boyd Randle raised five sons while in the greyhound business, all of whom remained in the industry. Boyd Randle passed away in 1955. In 1983 Boyd Randle was added to the PIONEER section of the Hall of Fame.

HISTORY: Boyd Randle’s history begins in 1916 with his first registered greyhound leased from Scott Dudly. Randle raised many quality track racers and coursing greyhounds. Boyd Randle was responsible for the great MISS JUDY, which would later become the backbone of the Randle stock. Surviving through the Depression was difficult with Randle’s large family. Boyd Randle was a farmer by profession, however, it was his greyhounds that pulled them through the Depression and kept the farm. Boyd Randle had 5 sons, Gene, Ned, Ray, Duane and Arvin, all of whom carried on in the greyhound industry.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS: Boyd Randle built himself a reputation as one of the premier greyhound breeders in the country and maintained that respect for several decades. Among the many outstanding greyhounds raised by Boyd or his sons were; PAKALO, GRENADINE, RAZOR’S EDGE, MEDORA, JANE BLISS, LUCRETIA, and of course the Hall of Fame greyhound REAL HUNTSMAN. All of these are linebred through MISS JUDY. This one female made an enormous impact on the greyhound breeding community. Men like El Beckner, Dick Walters and Ike Moelling all developed bloodlines which relied on her. Boyd’s greyhound WAR CRY was the greyhound in the movie “Dark Hazard.”
