MYRON HAUGHN

PROFILE: Myron Haughn was born in 1906 and moved from Grove City, Ohio to St. Petersburg, Florida in the 1930’s. He married greyhound owner Mae Leesley and together they operated the Haughn Kennel. After her death in 1966, he retired from the business. He died in 1974.

HISTORY: The Haughn Kennel was one of the best kennels at Revere and St. Petersburg, winning many of the major stakes at Wonderland Park and Derby Lane through the years. WILFUL MAID, a descendant of Hall of Famer JUST ANDREW*and WILD QUEEN CANNON, produced several outstanding litters for the Haughn Kennel.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS: The kennel set a record of six victories in a single 10-race program on April 8, 1939. At St. Petersburg in 1951, the kennel produced a “miracle” litter of 11 Grade A greyhounds. They were NO CURRENT, DANCING MAID, FREE SPEECH, WORRY FREE, RECORDING, EXTRA COPY, NO FUNDS, LOW COST, NO DESIGN, TIME CONTROL and DANCE FUND. Other outstanding racers were JUBILANT JUDGE, JOVIAL JUDY, JACOB’S JACKET, JAMBAR JOE and JAY-JAY.
